Autodesk AEC Excellence Award 2016

NAICM Mexico City Airport.

At the time, the single largest federated BIM model in the world — ISO 19650-aligned governance, CDE workflows, and coordination across dozens of disciplines.

The program

An airport at a scale few teams ever face.

The new Mexico City International Airport (NAICM) was one of the most ambitious aviation programs of its era — a 743,000 m² terminal whose flowing structure demanded that architecture, structure, and building systems be resolved together, not in isolation.

At that scale, drawings alone cannot hold a project together. The information itself had to be engineered.

The delivery system

One federated model. Dozens of disciplines. Zero ambiguity.

ConstruBIM's answer was a single federated BIM model — at the time, the largest in the world — unifying the work of dozens of disciplines into one coordinated source of truth.

Around the model we ran ISO 19650-aligned governance: a common data environment (CDE) with controlled workflows for how information was created, checked, approved, and shared — so every team, in every discipline, built against the same validated data.

The engineering

The world's first on-site BIM command center.

In 2015, ConstruBIM established the world's first dedicated BIM command center on a construction site — the industry's first BIM "war room" — putting the model at the center of daily site decisions instead of behind office doors.

The numbers behind it: 26,000,000 structural nodes held in a single database, over 10,500 drawings generated automatically from the model for the construction-document set, and a custom clash-detection clustering API that prioritized thousands of clashes by spatial concentration — so teams always resolved the densest conflicts first.

Recognition

Recognized by Autodesk with the AEC Excellence Award.

The program earned the Autodesk AEC Excellence Award 2016 — global recognition of the model's scale and the discipline of its delivery system. The same frame of work now runs on every ConstruBIM engagement, from single-discipline pilots to giga-projects.
