14,808 unique hexagonal facade panels, coordinated through BIM from concept geometry to installation.
A facade of 14,808 unique panels.
The Soumaya Museum in Mexico City is a cultural icon of Latin America. Its facade is made of 14,808 unique hexagonal panels — every one different — which made fabrication coordination the central problem of the project, not a detail of it.
At that count, drawings alone cannot keep geometry, fabrication and installation aligned. The information had to be modeled.
BIM-driven fabrication coordination, concept to installation.
ConstruBIM provided BIM-driven fabrication coordination from concept geometry through installation, on a federated MEP, structural and architectural model, so that the panels, the structure behind them and the building systems were resolved in one model.
Fabrication-grade modeling.
Fabrication-grade modeling at LOD 400 — shop-level components, fabrication drawings and schedules, facade and panelization modeling, and connection detailing — is the discipline behind this facade, and the service ConstruBIM now offers on any project. See Revit BIM modeling.
